An exciting opportunity has arisen for a leader from Power Gen industry to join our team of Rolls-Royce Power Systems/MTU Middle East in Dubai as a Head of Sales – Stationary & Sustainable Power Solutions (MENA) .

You will play a significant role in leading a team of regional sales managers, application engineers and sales support staff responsible for sales of Engines, Diesel & Gas Systems products to partners and OEMs and drive a culture of high performance, ·developing & executing sales strategy for regional responsibility within the Stationary (Power Gen and Oil & Gas) and Sustainable Power Solutions market and leading & overseeing of key account sales penetration and activities within the existing MTU global organization.

Reporting to the Managing Director – MME/Director BD Distribution EMEAR, you will have accountability to deliver financial performance as per the operational planning, support our distributors across the region and regular reporting of all market development activities, planning, results, and sales trends to the Managing Director – MME/Director BD Distribution EMEAR of MTU Middle East to support CFBU regional leaders.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop, implement and execute sales strategy for regional responsibility within the Power Gen & Gas Onshore market.
  • Lead the team of regional sales managers, application engineers and sales support staff responsible for sales of Engines and Diesel & Gas Systems.
  • Manage area specific sales planning of order income, sales, and turnover within the framework of strategic and operational planning as well as expected annual and monthly forecasts for the specific application.
  • Support distributors in further development of distribution sales with emphasis in growing sales and sales engineering capabilities to expand market access and market share.
  • Provide support by developing a proper business plan through annual business planning. Control and supervise the execution of the agreed business plan through quarterly business reviews; negotiate and sign individual supply contracts and frame contracts (direct sales) with OEM’s and end-users within the definition of distribution business.
  • Systematic identification, analysis, and management of current or potentially important RRPS/MTU customers.
  • Develop and manage Centre of Excellence for regional application engineering to meet local market requirements, develop non-standard offerings and deliver turn-key solutions for Power Gen and Oil & Gas projects and contribute to the development of the application specific global strategy for the specific sub-application within the area of responsibility.
  • Plan, coordinate and ensure successful execution of seminars, conferences, road shows etc. to increase the brand awareness, influence specs to improve market penetration.

Qualification/ Experience and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent degree in field appropriate for the function required with a background in Engineering or Business Administration field.
  • Extensive experience and proven-track record in meeting or exceeding targets in sales engineering of diesel/gas systems in Power Gen industry.
  • Excellent understanding across the business, its technologies, products, and processes, having a track record in relationship management, can demonstrate strategic thinking, and as a minimum a significant understanding of business development, sales, commercial, and customer services.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with demonstrated experience in consulting, collaborating with, and influencing across all levels including the senior management both within RRPS and distributors / dealers.
  • Demonstrable leadership and coaching skills with the ability to manage a diverse sales and application engineering team to drive a high-performance culture in region. Analytical thinker with an aptitude for problem solving. Experience of using structured change management process for complex change efforts within a function or business unit

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manages assigned country/region to ensure distributors / Sales partners are meeting the regional sales objectives.
  • Achieves regional sales operational objectives by preparing and implementing action plans, conducting audits and recommending regional sales system improvements.
  • Build and maintain rapport with customers to expand customer base.
  • Create awareness of products, conduct training and seminars for clients, consultants and sales team.
  • Roll out and execute country and market segment strategies, sales approach and terms and conditions to distributors/ partners on a regular basis.
  • Attends customer / consultant meetings with distributors to assist in the presentation, local trade shows and events and provide feedback to line manager accordingly.

  • Performs direct sales when required or for countries, in which no Distributor/Partner is available.  Prepares and presents professional sales presentations as and when required.
  • Establishes a close and harmonious coordination among sales personnel, service, manufacturing engineering, production, partners and distributors and resolves grievances.
  • Recommends product lines by identifying new product opportunities, and/or product, packaging, and service changes;
  • Resolves customer concerns and complaints in a timely manner that will create goodwill and future sales.
  • Identifies additional market or new customer potentials and business opportunities.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.

Qualification/ Experience and Competencies

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related Engineering field.  Master’s Degree in Marketing or Business Administration is good to have.
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in marine and Offshore industry in Sales, business development and distributor management functions.
  • Knowledge and experience of the Middle East Marine market including Commercial, yachts and shipyards (private and government)
  • Good experience, understanding and sound knowledge of operation of diesel engines and systems in marine. Technical product knowledge.
  • Proven record of building good business relationships with senior management at distributors, customers and consultant organizations.
  • Experience in project execution (technical & commercial) and coordination of complex projects (commercial).
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of contract law desirable.
  • Knowledge in spreadsheet analysis and financial management.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work extended periods without supervision.
  • Willingness to work in teams, also ability to work independently.

The Rotatives OBU conducts the manufacture and supply of critical rotating parts including Blisks, Discs, Drums and Shafts for the Fan, Compressor and Turbine modules in many Civil, Defence and Marine engines.

What you’ll be doing:

As Production Leader, you will influence, coach & inspire a team of like-minded Production professionals within a defined manufacturing cell across Discs & Drums, Rotatives.

PRODUCT SAFETY – Accountable for ensuring that all work is carried out in compliance with the required standard to ensure conformance to the engineering specification, and for promoting a product safety culture in the organisation.
QUALITY – Drive to Zero Defects. Work with all functions to reduce risks and drive product and service right first time. Ensure compliance to all relevant company legislative and technical policies and standards.
COST – Develop and manage agreed people budget (headcount, productivity, absenteeism). Understand and manage the cell cost centre budget and work with the team to drive productivity and reduce consumable cost.
DELIVERY – Deliver our products and services to customer commitments on time. Plan using load and capacity tools and manage bottlenecks and constraints to achieve flow through the cell. Understand WIP and inventory levels and drive to meet business targets.
PEOPLE – Optimise the capability and capacity of the cell by developing a flexible team. Develop and motivate team members ensuring they are trained, capable and effective.
LEAN – Ensure that all relevant Production System minimum standards are fully deployed and sustained within the business in support of performance objectives and coaching the team to fully participate in continuous improvement.
