Your role

Gensler Middle East is seeking a creative, collaborative, experienced professional to join our team as a Marketing Leader. This role will be a vital member of the office, working directly with the leadership across the Middle East and the Regional Marketing Director as a key source of knowledge and leadership for marketing and communications opportunities and practice area business development.

You will bring a superior strategic outlook and “make it happen” leadership skills, along with impeccable organization and project management. In this role you will lead a talented marketing and PR team, working together to produce materials in support Gensler’s business development efforts, including writing and designing proposals, presentations, and other collateral.

You are a thoughtful mentor, able to train team members in best practices while also inspiring them to be proactive in their own professional development. You will also work closely with the regional marketing and PR leadership and will join a tight-knit and collaborative regional marketing team. Marketers at Gensler also enjoy a robust global network of over 200 marketers and communicators who collaborate daily on strategies and tactics for winning new work.

You will also lead the department logistics, including staffing, knowledge management, opportunity tracking and reporting, and CRM efforts. In addition, you will communicate the marketing department’s efforts to office and regional leadership and ensures both project data and client relationship information is tracked and reported appropriately, while overseeing and controlling the quality of marketing collateral.

What You Will Do

The Marketing Leader is responsible for project-level success of office marketing, communication & PR efforts and supporting global and regional marketing projects and initiatives:

Clear and constant communication with Business Development (BD) leaders, weekly BD meeting/reporting (via salesforce) with senior staff
Know the firm’s portfolio in detail, understand practice area capabilities, actively seek out firm’s best practices for use in office PA efforts
Conduct internal and external research on new opportunities, prospective clients and practice areas
Lead strategy meetings with BD champions
Create pitch strategy/budget with BD champion including research, network mapping, tasks/milestones, reviews and delivers pitch strategy throughout process
Research targets, internal relationships, company history, market position; ensure client or 3rd party Q&A and site visits
Concept/write/design new material as needed to support marketing programs
Manage daily workload/staffing for marketing team
Support regional marketing initiatives as part of the senior members of the marketing team in APME
Be the point person responsible for Middle East for global-related projects (permissions, publications, submissions, etc.)
Seek out and implement process and content improvements
Coach peers on new ideas and best practices
Mentor and train junior team members while also inspiring them to be proactive in their own professional development
Maintain consistency of marketing deliverables, alignment with firm brand program, participate in design reviews with the global and regional marketing team
Maintain resources & information systems: ordering materials, updating project documentation, resumes, image libraries, support award submissions
Oversee local PR & communications efforts including: media, events, sponsorships, and photography
Lead local internal communications as relevant
Support Gensler sustainability goals. Especially on topics relevant to your day-to-day duties
Engage and collaborate with the larger team on sustainability efforts and initiatives
Research and implement ways to optimize our internal workflow environmental impact

Your Qualifications
8-12 years of professional experience in a marketing role, preferably for an architecture, design, engineering, construction, or industry-related firm
Bachelor’s degree in, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, Architecture, or adjacent field
Strong graphic design sensibility and written/verbal communication skills
Experience managing significant marketing projects independently, working closely with senior staff and leadership on marketing initiatives
Experience managing a team – hiring, training, mentorship, and leading talent
Experience strategically partnering and supporting senior staff on business-critical projects
Self-motivator with strong intra-personal skills; a great collaborator
Ability to lead BD conversations confidently and strategically and collaborate closely with leadership on win strategy and storytelling
Creative and impactful graphic design skills, including creating effective presentations and marketing collateral
Strong organizational skills to coordinate and manage multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to work with diverse project teams and in a fast-paced work environmen
Fluent in InDesign and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with other Adobe Creative Suite software, and Salesforce is a plus
Basic understanding of sustainable design and operations is preferred

Your Role

As a key part of the Middle East leadership team, you will partner with the Office Managing Director and others to develop and drive the growth strategy for Gensler across the Middle East and North Africa regions. With a strong background in project management and operational leadership, you will advise and guide project leaders for the successful delivery of their projects and the development of critical client relationships. As part of your role, you will partner with colleagues across the offices to maximise project and office profitability, focused on our financial, organizational and market success.

You will also support the growth planning, positioning, and marketing of the Middle East offices, engaging with Gensler leadership globally, and ensuring the success of our clients in the region. Internally, you will provide strategic leadership and operational management across the offices for Finance, IT, HR, Facilities and Marketing/PR teams.

What You Will Do

Provide strategic leadership on operational, project management and financial matters.
Collaborate on strategic planning and implementation.
Support business growth through bets practices.
Manage the office’s financial and accounting functions including but not limited to: Project accounting, budgeting, cash management, financial analysis, profitability targets, contract administration, P & L and Balance Sheet.
Work closely with Studio Directors, Project Managers and Project Accounting Staff to insure accurate project accounting.
Oversee project billings and fee management in the office and ensure all financial activities are consistent with Gensler policies and procedures.
Work with Accounting Staff, Office Director and Project Managers to oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, overhead expense budget, and productivity projections.
Monitor Accounts Receivable and assist in collection efforts when necessary.
Work closely with HR leadership to ensure that all company policies and procedures and labor laws are followed and adhered to.
Provide guidance and oversight to HR team regarding office policy and performance issues.
Work closely with HR, Studio Directors and Staffing Coordinators to ensure office staffing needs are being met and that productivity targets are being achieved.
Provide oversight and guidance to Marketing Manager in terms of marketing budgets, company positioning, GoNo activities, client management and PR.
Oversee activities of the IT Manager and IT team to ensure that all computer related systems and network are operating smoothly and that all aspects of technology are within firm wide technology standards.
Work with IT Manager to review and approve all technology hardware and software purchases.
Provide oversight and guidance to Office Facilities team.
Provide training to Project Managers and staff on Gensler project delivery protocols, internal accounting systems, processes, and procedures.
Review project and vendor contracts and provide appropriate feedback regarding business terms, as required.
Review office lease documents and assist in negotiations.
Support strategic growth initiatives locally and globally.
Active involvement in regional and global projects and initiatives. Participate in conference calls and meetings as appropriate.

Your Qualifications

A Senior Operations professional possessing a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
Bachelor’s degree essential; advanced degree such as MBA is desirable.
Strong knowledge of practices and procedures within design and construction industry.
Experience in managing administrative teams with a good understanding of Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing and Facilities Operations.
Excellent interpersonal, business communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Ability to handle difficult situations with tact, grace and style.
Experience negotiating project scope and fees.
Strong leadership and relationship management skills.
Must have the ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships.
Proficiency in appropriate computer hardware and software programs.
