Common Service Assistant

Common Services Assistant, Consulate General of Canada in Dubai

Under the supervision of the Common Service Officer, the incumbent is accountable for the provision of administrative support services of mission-specific common services; and the coordination of regionalized common services requests from the mission to the CSDP.

Responsible for the provision of documents, information and a variety of administrative services in support of more than one of the following areas: finance, human resources, materiel management, procurement, contracting, property and facilities management processes.

Job Requirements

Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• Successful completion of a university degree from a recognized university

Language:
• Fluency in English (oral and written)
• Fluency in Arabic (oral and written)

Experience:
• Experience working in an office environment in an administrative role for a minimum of three (3) years.

Rated Requirements
• The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge

Duties

Basic Function of the Position – Performs all duties of escort, by monitoring and escorting of uncleared personnel into controlled access areas (CAA) or other locations within Consulate facilities and grounds. May also perform administrative duties for the Facilities Management Office. Incumbent must be a U.S. Citizen, eligible for a Top Secret security clearance.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: One year of prior experience in an office, management or security-related position is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of regulations governing control and protection of classified material set out in 12 FAM, as well as post-specific security access procedures; the proper use of security-related equipment. Be familiar with the general layout of mission grounds and facilities. Knowledge of general safety procedures.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary school is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level III (good working knowledge) speaking / writing English is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Basic keyboard skills and computer literacy. Must be observant, flexible and service oriented. Duties include prolonged periods of standing/walking and somewhat physically demanding activities to include climbing, working in cramped spaces and at times working in inclement weather. Must be able to obtain and maintain “Top Secret” Security Clearance.
